HCCI was awarded the contract for the new Nashville Metropolitan Transit Authority (MTA) Maintenance Building. Work began in mid-February at the old Peterbilt manufacturing plant located on Myatt Drive in Madison, Tennessee. The project will consist of interior and exterior improvements to the existing facility, including demolition of existing elements, new CMU and framed walls, new interior finishes and fixtures, upgrades to the mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and sprinkler systems, overhead door installation, canopy additions, new fencing, and site work improvements adjacent to the building and along Myatt Drive.
MTA is splitting the Peterbilt plant with Metro Nashville Government and will take approximately 172,000 square feet of the shop floor. The new maintenance facility will feature new bus washers, a body shop with paint booth, transmission and brake shop, parts and shipping area, and administrative support offices in order to serve as a full service bus maintenance facility. The project is expected to be complete by September 2012.

Hardcastle Construction Company, Inc. is constructing a new Michael’s arts and crafts retail store in Bowling Green, Kentucky. The store’s building footprint is approximately 18,000 square feet, and construction will consist of cast-in-pace concrete, structural concrete masonry walls and light gauge steel framing bearing on shallow strip and spread footings, and a reinforced slab-on-grade.
Michael’s is North America’s largest specialty arts and crafts retailer, offering its customers party and gift wrapping supplies, art and craft supplies, sewing supplies, framed mirrors and art, arranged silk floral and greenery, and seasonal gifts and decorating items and supplies.
The new Michael’s store will be located on Gary Farms Boulevard, immediately adjacent to Kohl’s and is expected to be open to the public for business in July, 2012. Key project team members include COR3 Design, LLC (Architect). William T. Fuller (Structural Engineer), LeBlanc/Welch (Plumbing and Mechanical Engineers), and H2L (Electrical Engineer), all based in Greenville, South Carolina.

Legend’s Bank, a community bank currently serving Clarksville - Montgomery County and Dover - Stewart County areas, is expanding into Nashville. Hardcastle Construction Company, Inc. is proud to have begun sitework for the new Legend’s Bank, Green Hills branch on Crestmore Road. The site was formerly home to a vacant single-story branch building. That building has been demolished and previous site conditions have been modified in preparation for construction of the new building.
The new branch, a wood framed, two-story, brick veneer building, slab-on-grade, with a low sloped membrane roof system, will offer 1,799 square feet per floor of bank retail and office space. The existing below grade run-off detention system will be protected and incorporated into the new building’s rain run-off system.

The former Hippodrome Nissan building, located at 1212 Broadway in Nashville will not be vacant for much longer. HCCI is renovating this 86,000 sq. ft. building to be the newest location for the Nelson Mazda group, which currently has 3 locations: Rivergate, Hickory Hollow, and Tulsa, Oklahoma. Work includes complete demolition and rebuild of the interior including all new walls, new show room, new offices, and installation of elevators. Exterior improvements include new EFIS, new metal panels, and new storefront glass. In addition, the current sales wing will be demoed and replaced. The estimated completion date is July 23, 2011.

The new Pro Shop at Montgomery Bell State Park is open and in full operation. The old clubhouse was torn down to make room for more than 13,000 square feet in an expanded, brand new clubhouse, pro-shop, and restrooms. The structure consists of structural concrete and wood framing and post tension concrete slab with metal studs. The exterior features stone veneer, hardy board siding, and a metal roof. The expansive covered veranda consists of structural concrete. The new clubhouse features a snack bar, complete commercial kitchen, cart storage space, carpet and VCT flooring, and upgraded millwork items, such as window and door casings. The new Pro Shop was dedicated to Tennessee Department of Environment and Conservation Commissioner Jim Fyke on January 7, 2011.

The new MTSU Dairy Farm, located on over 400 acres on Guy James Road in Murfreesboro, consists of a 20,000 square foot milking and housing facility supported by a 9,000 square foot farm maintenance shop, a 5,500 square foot hay barn, a 1,300 square foot commodity barn, two 4,000 bushel grain bins, and a new 2,700 foot concrete road to access the new barn. The new facility will offer state-of-the-art computerized equipment and greater functionality for cattle comfort. According to Dr. Warren Gill, Director of the School of Agribusiness and Agriscience, MTSU is the only school in the state where students milk the cows and process the milk for students.
